She Was Fired for Stealing From the Family — Until the Housekeeper Opened the Folder She Was Never Supposed to Find

"She has to go — right now!" Karen's finger was still raised, and Michael just stood there, halfway between his wife and the woman who had kept his house for three years.
Denise didn't argue. She didn't cry. She held the folder against her chest like it was her son's hand.
Money was missing, Karen had been whispering for weeks — and now there was a bank statement with Denise's name on it. "I found it in her room," Karen said. "Do you want to wait until she's taken more?"
Denise looked at Michael. He wouldn't look back.
"He's seven," Denise said. "He's asleep upstairs. If I go tonight, where does he go?"
Then she asked one question that didn't fit. "Karen — when you were in Chicago last month, whose car was in the driveway?"
The room went cold. Karen laughed, a beat too late.
Denise opened the folder. A property-transfer deed — Michael's signature at the bottom. Except he hadn't signed it.
"That's not my writing," Michael said.
Karen lunged. Denise pulled the folder back and turned her phone around. The doorbell camera: Karen at his kitchen table, two weeks ago, practicing his signature.
Michael recognized his own kitchen. Karen's mouth opened. Nothing came out.
"Call them," Michael said.
The full story is in the link below — what was already filed, and how Michael made sure Denise and Eli never had to leave that house again.
